LBi is a leading custom application development and system integration firm servicing a wide range of industries from human resources to major sports leagues.

LBi was started in 1982 as a firm specializing in performance modeling and tuning, primarily for IBM mainframes and subsystems. One of LBi’s early clients was Equitable and its data centers. This work included the development and use of analytic queuing models and other mainframe performance work. Soon after, the firm started to work with application developers to improve the performance of online and batch systems, including payroll.

By 1986, LBi had developed its first application, the Tax Estimator, a Federal and State tax planner for CPAs based on the Tax Reform Act of 1986. This combination of financial and programming expertise is one of the hallmarks of LBi.

In 1989, LBi was asked to review the database structure of Equitable's employee payroll system, recently converted to Tesseract. After reviewing our recommendations, the Payroll Department asked LBi to implement the changes, which resulted in a significant reduction in processing times. At this time LBi began a long-term relationship with the Equitable/AXA’s Human Resources Department, a relationship that continues today.
